3rd year running and I think we got it right! This year we collaborated with Friends of Burnley Cemetery, and some of the choir members from All Saints with John the Baptist Church on Padiham Road, to once again hold our annual carol singalong in the tiny cemetery chapel. As Jim our choir master explained, the walls of this building are usually steeped in grief, tonight we hope to put some happiness in its place.

And what a brilliant night! We sang all our favourite church carols which everyone recognised, even if they couldn’t read the words on the song sheet. The choir were brilliant keeping us all on track and in time, and we all had a great time singing loudly & heartily. To follow we had home made mince pies, many thanks to Sue, and warm mulled wine (non-alcoholic of course as we needed to drive home).

We had planned a lantern procession from FreshFields up Cemetery Lane to the chapel but it was pouring with rain, so we had to abandon that plan and had the lanterns amongst the congregation instead.

Sung out, full & happy, we’re all now feeling much more Christmassy and hopefully we can do it again next year.
